African Farmers to Get Crypto Loans from Fintech Startups This gives the under-banked greater access to credit facilities with lower interest rates. An interesting side note at the end of the article is that South Africans was the most active in Googling “Bitcoin,” followed by Slovenia, the Netherlands, Australia, and Austria.

CryptoKitties are racing for prize money on the ethereum blockchain.  KittyRace transforms the utility of Cryptokitties. This makes the virtual collectibles interactive and engaging, similar to Magic the Gathering and Pokemon cards.  😻❤

Diversity and Inclusion

👏👏👏Redpoint Poaches Uber’s Annie Kadavy To Be Venture Firm’s First Female Partner. Good to see more VC’s looking to change their formula and changing the player.

The State of Wage Inequality in the Workplace. Hired just released their annual report based on their data. Key findings reveal that Hispanic and Black women are offered 90 cents for every dollar white men earn. Also, a plurality of people surveyed (42%) felt that closing the wage gap requires collaboration between companies, the government, women, and non-binary individuals. We feel this requires collaboration of everyone!

Transportation

We’re going to look back at this and say, “That is ss-ooo 2018!” Municipalities like Seattle, San Diego, San Francisco are trying to manage the clutter of undocked “Free-Floating” Bike/Scooter Programs. Seattle is experimenting with designated bike-sharing areas, which is almost like a docking station without the hardware.
